Will I teach again???

The answer to this question is very unfortunately " I DON'T KNOW "!!!!! :(

Today is my last day as a teacher. I have really enjoyed this very very noble profession. I also strongly believe and have experienced the fact that teaching isn't a one way learning, but is a mutually learning and sharing experience between the student and the teacher. These 18 months teaching the labs for ECE 194 (Digital Logic Design) at Wichita State Unviersity have taught me a lot!!! It has made me a public intellectual.... It has made me understand that a problem has many solutions...... and also that once you have the confidence you can help a lot of people.... I have taught three batches of students so far..... In each one of the students I saw a different person... different attitude... different approach and different way of learning.... oh my my !!!!! GOD indeed has good sense of creativity. We have laughed together, learnt together, fought on issues, discussed about life, economies, entertainment, engineering.... the list is endless..... The way I have been addressed are many.. My parents just gave me one name.. but my students..they christened me over and over... "Ma'am, miss, teacher, TA, Harini".... and I love them for this....... I have students from different countries, different cultures, different tongues, different ages, some even as old as my father .... but what I see common in all of them is they all are very friendly, inquisitive, most have the drive and urge to learn, they are excited over small new things they get to make in the lab, they work hard at work and school, hate exams, hate me when I don't give good marks, and love the student life they are enjoying... sometimes it makes me so jealous about them.... they are still students.. no big responsibilities..... care free life.. whilst once we graduate...u r "BIG" and have to be responsible... I love student life and my students.... and I always wish, hope, pray, long, desire and throng to go back to my student life....... If not at least in the next "few"years, I will go back in the near future to school and get to be a STUDENT.... but this very very noble profession which has been running in my family's blood is indeed the "BEST" profession in this whole wide world..... it is it was and will be the most noblest service one can offer to mankind.... I revere and bow to all the teachers in this world who are responsible for this rapid growth.....
TEACHERS...... YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!

Mottai Boss!!!!! Peerless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our trip to dallas.....It had three main reasons...............
Priority one : - It was fun trip with friends in which I will be given a chance to drive....wowwwww friends and driving are two things i adore in my life....

Priority two : - Thalaivar padam pakeee.....................
Super Star of India cinema...The grand ambassador for Style........An excellent epitome of simplicity.........Non other than our super star Rajnikanth's most awaited, extraordinary combo movie with ARR and Sankar was being released.....................

Priority Three : - ARR was live in blood and flesh...what?????? yes.....!!!!!!..THE ARR LIVE IN CONCERT...where we were gona hear sadhana sargam, hariharan, blazee, chitra, sivaman and many more...It was going to be the best treat I gave my ears ................

The trip started on a sunny afternoon on June 16th ....We drove straight to the ARR concert.......asking me what we did on the way...other than trying to hit a small car driving near us....(ofcourse it was the other drivers mistake claimed my friend deepam a.k.a pampam) we played cards in the car and sang and ate and ofcourse slept..the six hour journey seeemed like years for all of us and especially for murali anna a die hard god crazy fan of AR Rahman....

Tho' tired and freaked out we went with full energy to the concert.....It was one of the most wonderful things i had experienced in my life....just to see ARR had just two legs like us and talked with his mouth, yet produced the most loveliest music on earth was too much for words....he had all of us screaming and dancing for almost all his numbers...I loved my personal favourite "Pray for me brother" which ofcourse Blazee and ARR just rocked.......
Dinesh, Deepam and Naveen were the most hyped up........Murali anna was little hyped up.......Guess he was so much soaked with the ARR air that his senses went numb...........

The night was spent at my friend Nithya's residence....Beautiful, very hospitable couple Nithya and Sriram make........The next day hohoooooooooooooo....Vaaji Vaaji Vaaji Sivaji........we went late to the theatre..thanks to the faucet in Mani anna's house..(dont ask me what happened I will not tell or maybe I will write a new post title "pot pott and potty" to explain what happened)

We were sitting in the first row....what ???????????? yes the first row (almost) of the theater...Though it was not that bad.....not like the Bench Ticket in our indian theatres..But it did have a straining effect on our necks.....The movie rocked from the begining till the end.....Now who said we were in america so we were supposed to stay quite and watch movies...there was no shortage of howling screaming hotting and ofcourse throwing of shredded papper on the screen and into the air every time thalaivar came on screen or delivered a punch dialogue or smashed the villan or romanced with the beautiful shriya......Man what else in the world is called enetertainment, other than a Rajni Film...Guesss others should take a break....Then Interval....No not popocorns...we had samosa,puffs....wowwww the Funasia theatre owners did bring an India-like feel to the theatre ...and ofocurse the crowd did the india-feel much better.....

The film was gona end.....I was sad about it...when something happened...Our reincarnation of Thalaivar Mr.Mottai Boss came on the screen.........wowwwwwwwwwwwwww I just freaked out I couldn't beleive my eyes....Thalaivar was so gooodddddddddddddd.....wowwwwwww I literally fell for him......I just enjoyed it so much,,,,, so did my friends who immeditely went for the next show ....but for some of us and me ,,,,,,we had to go feed our hungry much forgotten for two days stomach........So we went to an indian restaurant "Chettinad Palace" and ate doai ,biryani, sambhar vadai......it did its job to give the india -like feel....
Another very good part of the trip was the night driving...Except for me and pampam all of our friends slept...So it was upto both of us to reach home safe and sound...So we each drove for 3 hours and came back to Wichita ("Home sweet home---theres nothing better in life").....

PHEWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what an energy filled trip it was..................

Ever tried this.......

Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much--> Oscar Wilde

It was not one thing i beleived till I really tried it.I am this kind of a god forsaken species that beleives all near ones with blinds on the eyes. But wait!!! my close ones dint tell this.So..ur right I dint beleive this....till I really had to do this....the most disheartening words to add.....

Always forgive your enemies ; especially those that were friends ; nothing annoys them so much..

But it is true and the best thing to do....

Will I B or not B in the H1B slot

April first seems to be a big D day ..... Now no its not a repeat of my previous blog......ok then in which way.....

  • ok its the world fools days...... seri seri....jus wondering if ive got something new.....hang on

  • i was fooled by google............. never mind the world doesnt care

  • what else........... The day every engineeerrrrr in america.........berica......stay put yar....craves for

So whats this.....This is the day on which the H1B application process starts.Long Long ago so long ago till 2005, there want any mad rush.you could start filling the application from April 1 and it could go on till even the month of august or september and u can still get ur H1B slot. But now from 2006...phew!!!!!!!!!! oh my GOD what a rush.....

The number of applications against the number of visas granted is almost triple. This year in 2007 on the first day of opening they received around 3 lakh applications for 75k visa slots. But this is for the open quota......I dont care...or we dont care......We are doing our Masters ...so we dont come in that quota claimed some of my friends and me..... we got the blow jsu in time...guess we forgot it was kali yugam......the masters quota was over in a weeks time... whattttttttt ....25000 MS engineers from American schools applied for H1B..The numebrs were making us dizzy...........goshhh!!! never even though so many MS engineers would graduate each eyar.....Others who ahdnt completely finished their MS had to actually opt for the less-probability-to-get open slot...........

The student community was astounded, shocked and frozen........

Now ok, we are engineers yar..so how do we solve the problem......The congress has to increase the numebr of visa slots......But why would it? Why should it? Because it need human brain power to keep its economy moving...Now was that convincing...when we were discussing among ourselves about the various options to get the problem solve....The congress came up with "THE" solution.......

Whatsss that?????????????

LOTTERY

LOTTERY????? did I hear it right.....is it the same system that was banned in my state of tamilnadu by the government.....Yes it was....The applications of all the peole who have applied in the open quota is going to go through a process of lottery....Its was jsut not enough for lady luck to smile at u..but shes gota be madly in love with u for you to win the lottery.....

An engineers fate decided this way.....Whats the big deal say some???????

Ofcourse the congress got its way and this ahs been established as a standard. The lottery ofcourse took place and some got some dint.....I saw many of my friends going back home....(lucky for them I thought...ofcourse this is personal)...But they dint share the same feeling......

For those who have completed the MS degree completely it was not a cake walk but it was not that hard. They atleast had some preferences....But who knows the congress can by all means introduce the lottery system for the MS quota if it exceeds limits....wait now dont call me pessimistic...am being practical....

Now after going through all tis grueling thoughts one thing that comes to me is why?????

why should I still pursue this mad rush...???????????

why dont I just finish my masters and come home to amma and appa??????

I dont know the answers for all this...I cant tell till the day comees................ofcourse hopefuly less than a year from now I will know if am gona play the CONGRESS LOTTERY or go back to my sweet motherland......

If you dont like the weather in Wichita, wait for ten miutes!!!

Heyyyyy hold on !!!!! BTW Wichita is a little sweet town in the state of Kansas in USA.Whats so special about that now???

It has me.... :)
----what else

It is the air capital of USA....Beleive it...dont keep your mouths agape.
Boeing,Cessna,Raytheon,Learjet....you name the aerospace company and we have
it :)...Proud us.......

It has WSU my Skooooooooooolll

The next best thing here is the weather. Its crazy...Does it snow heavily in April..Yes it
does for .....Does the mercury crawl to 40C in august....ofcourse by all means........

Tuesday of this week ,I did my usual habbit of checkin the weather by peepin into my balcony.....ahhh it was pretty warm for 9O clock in the morning.I dressed in thin casuals and went out happily with a tune in my ear to school.By around 12 'Oclock I went out from my airtight, no-fresh-air lab to have my lunch.Mannnnnn was this the day that started with a colorful weather. It was very windy and we were getting all the sand and dust into our eyes. Somehow,as I usually do , I managed to go the cafeteria and eat those godforsaken burgers.Yes I did it this time too. Around 1.30pm I started teaching my Lab when around 2.00 OClock one of my students exclaimed... "I dint know it was gona rain so badly!!!"I turned around to see through the french window in my Lab that it was raining cats and dogs....Now how in the world am I gona go home , I wondered ,since I had neither my car now my umberella.Brushing that thought aside I went along with my class. It was around 8.30pm that night when i finally decided to relax for the day.So my brother and myself got ready and when i stepped outside the engineering school....... agghhhhhh ,,,my teeth started typewriting..It was cold no colder..no it was coldest.......I somehow tried to find warmth in my spring clothes ,but in vain.We somehow did manage to make it to the warm comforts of our home .....

Now what do u call that .....In the spring season we started off with a hot weather..drifted to a windy one....managed to change it to a monsoon and then finally we ended with a wintery chill.....When I was wondering about this,my friend told me this --> "if you dont like the weather in Wichita, wait for ten miutes!!!"....Now wouldn't I beleive her .....

I Dont Get Fooled Easily!!! Do I ?????

April seems to have all kinds of things in store for me...
April 1st :-My sweet little niece and my close friends Bday. They are intelligent fools, whom I love. Now was that interesting.Yes it was,but it does come every year. What next!!!! The Big Questiion???? Was I fooled by anyone. Not untill the end of the day, when guess who Google Succeded.I was checking my gmail, when a friend of mine, who was sitting ner me gave a shreak. He said theres a new networking technology.Being sophomores with open ears for anything in networking and eager to make a differecne, all of us gathered around his notebook. He went on,theres a techonology called TISP BETA that google is offering for guess what FREEEEE!!!! That word was striking.High speed internet for free.I couldn't digest it.There was a simulation that showed flushing an optical fibre from the drain.DRAINNNNNN am I seeing it right.Since all drains are networks too, this optical fibre that reaches the other end will be connectd to a high speed server. So no laying cost,no manpoer wasted, just the fibre ,so its free. All my friends (and this does include my brother !!!!;) ) were ooo'ing and aaaa'ing at the technology. It couldnt penerate me though!! I took his notebook aside and was getting overwhelmedand excited with the tech and was bringing out the different blocks in TISP BETA,declaring it was possible to have the newly christened "Drainy Net"when somehting hard fell on me.It was the reality that it was April First,World Fools day............Google did play its part of the pranks on April First........Claiming to be Masters in Engineering and oh my GOD the truth, specialising in Networking...I did feel embaraced or rather unexplainable for being fooled in this particular fashion....GEEKS we call ourselves huh!!!!!...Never will I atleast till this fades away....
Wanna check this out...try googles drainy net set up.... http://www.google.com/tisp/

Thinking!!!

Thinking is the toughest job.......
That is why only a few people resort to it......
